Content creator Salman Muqtadir has alleged that his studio was attacked, vandalized and looted after he refused to pay extortion money. He himself brought the incident to public attention through a video message posted on Facebook.
The incident reportedly took place around midnight on Saturday (September 27) at the New Greeny Properties area near ECB Chattar in the capital.
According to the allegations, a group of attackers entered the studio and vandalized various rooms, furniture and equipment. Several items were also allegedly taken away during the incident. CCTV cameras and other electronic equipment inside the studio were reportedly damaged.
Salman Muqtadir, a well-known Bangladeshi content creator, described the incident in his Facebook video message and raised allegations regarding the demand for money. The exact circumstances surrounding the attack, however, are subject to investigation.
A duty officer at Cantonment Police Station said that a clash and vandalism occurred in the ECB Chattar area reportedly over an attempt to establish control or an alleged illegal occupation of property. The officer also said that gunfire was reported during the incident.
Police quickly responded to the situation and took steps to bring the circumstances under control. Two people were arrested from the scene, and police reportedly recovered knives from them.
Legal proceedings are currently underway in connection with the incident, according to police.
While Salman Muqtadir has alleged that the attack was linked to a refusal to pay extortion money, police have described the broader incident as being connected to a dispute involving control or alleged illegal occupation in the area. Further investigation is expected to establish the circumstances behind the attack and determine the responsibility of those involved.
