One afternoon in 2019 remains one of my most cherished memories. I suddenly heard that a movie was being filmed in Uttara Diabari, Dhaka. As soon as I got the news, I knew I had to visit the shooting location. After finishing work, I headed there with my dear friend, Soma Apa.

Some memories become special not because of how extraordinary the event was, but because of the feelings and experiences connected with that particular moment. A photograph can sometimes take us back to a specific day, place, and time, allowing us to remember people, surroundings, and emotions that might otherwise fade with time.
One such memorable experience for me took place in 2019, when I had the opportunity to visit a movie shooting location at Uttara Diabari in Dhaka. The day was filled with excitement, curiosity, and a completely different experience from ordinary daily life. I was able to observe a professional film production from close by and capture a few photographs that have remained special to me.
A Day at the Shooting Location
When we arrived at Uttara Diabari, the entire film crew was already busy with production. The atmosphere was full of energy and activity. Cameras were being prepared, lights were positioned, actors and other performers were getting ready, and different members of the production team were working together.
A movie may look simple and effortless when we watch it on a cinema screen or television, but seeing the production process from close range gives a completely different impression. Behind every scene, there are many people working together to make everything happen.
The director, actors, camera operators, lighting team, makeup artists, assistants, technicians, and many other crew members all have important responsibilities. Watching them coordinate with each other was an interesting experience.
Watching a Movie Being Made
For someone who enjoys movies and photography, being present at a film shooting location was naturally exciting. I had seen movies many times before, but seeing how a scene is actually created was something completely different.
The cameras, lighting equipment, actors, costumes, and production activities created an atmosphere that felt very different from an ordinary day. Every small detail seemed to have a purpose.
Sometimes the crew had to prepare the scene before filming could begin. At other times, everyone had to remain focused and quiet while the cameras were recording. This helped me understand how much patience, teamwork, and concentration are required to produce even a short scene for a movie.
Capturing the Memories
During the busy shooting schedule, I managed to take a few photographs. At that time, my camera was not the best, and I did not have access to the advanced photography equipment that many people use today.
However, the quality of the camera was not the most important thing for me. What mattered was preserving the memory.
A photograph does not always have to be technically perfect to be meaningful. Sometimes an ordinary photograph can become extremely valuable because of the memory attached to it. Years later, when we look at that picture again, we remember where we were, who was there, what happened, and how we felt at that moment.
That is exactly how I feel about these photographs from 2019.
Memories Are More Valuable Than Image Quality
Looking at these photographs today, I sometimes think about how much better they might have looked if I had owned a modern, high-quality camera at that time.
Today, smartphones and cameras can produce incredibly detailed photographs. Modern technology provides better resolution, sharper images, improved lighting, and many other features.
But despite the limitations of my old camera, I would never want to replace those photographs. Their value is not determined by pixels, sharpness, or technical quality. Their real value comes from the memories they preserve.
Every time I look at them, I remember that special day at Uttara Diabari. I remember the busy shooting location, the people working behind the scenes, the excitement of watching a movie being made, and the happiness of being able to capture a few moments.
The Importance of Behind-the-Scenes Experiences
Movie audiences usually see only the finished product. We watch the actors performing, enjoy the story, and appreciate the final scenes. However, a film set reveals another side of filmmaking.
Behind every finished movie, there are countless hours of preparation, teamwork, rehearsals, technical work, and patience.
The experience of watching a shooting session helped me appreciate the effort that goes into filmmaking. It reminded me that entertainment created for audiences requires the cooperation of many talented and dedicated people.
The experience also gave me a greater appreciation for photographers and visual storytellers. Capturing the right moment requires attention, patience, and sometimes a little luck.
